Supporting the Launch of Shop Local Programs for Bay Area Cities

During the pandemic, many local businesses in Bay Area cities faced uncertainty. To support economic recovery, I played a key role in launching multiple “Shop Local” programs, which generated hundreds of thousands of dollars in incremental revenue.

Multi-Channel Campaign for Maximum Exposure

I knew that promoting the Shop Local initiative would require an integrated approach across multiple platforms, including social media, email, and direct community outreach.

  • Custom Content for Each City: For each participating city, I designed tailored content to highlight local businesses, focusing on their unique stories and products. Through engaging video interviews and behind-the-scenes content, I was able to build a sense of community that encouraged residents to support their local economies. Each business had personalized spotlight features, which I used to drive engagement on Facebook and Instagram.

  • Social Media Advertising: I created localized Facebook and Instagram ad campaigns featuring carousel posts of local businesses offering special deals. By geo-targeting these ads, we ensured that the right audiences were seeing the messages—residents and nearby visitors looking to support small businesses. These ads achieved exceptional click-through rates and led to a direct increase in foot traffic and sales.

  • Community Engagement Initiatives: I organized virtual community events and Shop Local days where residents could win prizes for supporting local businesses. These events were live-streamed, increasing their reach and generating excitement among participants, while also encouraging spending at participating shops.

These strategies contributed to a significant economic boost for local businesses, many of which reported substantial increases in revenue as a direct result of the Shop Local campaigns.
